Nose Thread Augmentation
Absorbable threads placed within the nose to provide temporary structural support and definition without surgery.
What it is
Absorbable threads are introduced into the nose to provide temporary structural support, most often to the bridge. The threads dissolve over time, so the effect is not permanent.
Honest limitations
Thread augmentation is a limited, temporary procedure. It cannot achieve what rhinoplasty achieves, it cannot correct significant deviation or functional problems, and it is not suitable for every nose. Where a surgical result is what you are looking for, that should be discussed openly at consultation rather than approximated with threads.
What to expect
Local anaesthetic is used. Swelling and tenderness for several days is normal. The nose has a rich blood supply and complications, though uncommon, need to be recognised early — so follow-up contact details are provided after treatment.
Safety information
All medical procedures carry risk. The points below are general and are not a substitute for an individual assessment.
Possible side effects
Swelling, bruising, tenderness, asymmetry, visible or palpable threads, thread migration or extrusion. Less commonly, infection, or vascular compromise, which is rare but serious in the nose.
May not be suitable if
Pregnancy or breastfeeding, active infection, previous nasal surgery or existing nasal implants without assessment, bleeding disorders, keloid tendency, or unrealistic expectations of what a non-surgical approach can achieve.
