Lutronic Spectra XT Laser
A Q-switched Nd:YAG laser platform used for pigmentation, melasma, uneven tone, and for oil and redness control in acne-prone skin.
What it is
The Spectra XT is a Q-switched laser platform that delivers energy in very short pulses at more than one wavelength. Different settings suit different problems, which is why the same device appears under both pigmentation and acne.
What it is used for
- Sunspots, freckles and other surface pigmentation
- Melasma, managed as a long-term condition rather than a one-off fix
- Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, including marks left by acne
- Oil control, pore appearance and redness in acne-prone skin
How it works
Short laser pulses are absorbed preferentially by pigment. The pigment breaks into smaller particles that the body then clears. Because that clearance is gradual and depends on your own circulation, spots often look slightly darker before they fade.
An honest note about melasma
Melasma is a chronic, relapsing condition influenced by sun exposure, heat and hormones. Laser can improve its appearance, but it does not cure it, and it can worsen if treated too aggressively. Ongoing sun protection and a maintenance plan matter more than the laser itself. Any treatment plan should be discussed on that basis.
Aftercare
Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen is not optional after pigmentation treatment; without it, pigment commonly returns. Avoid heat and direct sun in the days following each session.

Possible side effects
Temporary redness, mild swelling, or darkening of treated spots before they clear. Less commonly, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, patchy lightening, or recurrence of melasma, which is a chronic condition.
May not be suitable if
Pregnancy, active infection or inflammation in the treatment area, photosensitising medication, recent isotretinoin use, or recent sun exposure and tanning.
